A legacy of luxury, sustainability, and genuine Thai warmth on the shores of Kata Beach.
Our Story
Our History
Verdant Bay Resort & Spa opened its doors in 2008 when founders Khun Somchai and Khun Mali Wongsawat transformed a lush hillside overlooking Kata Bay into a boutique luxury retreat. What began as a 20-room property has grown into a 45-room resort while preserving the intimate atmosphere and personal touch that defined our earliest days. Over nearly two decades, we have welcomed guests from more than 60 countries, earning recognition as one of Phuket's most beloved beachfront destinations.
Our Vision
We envision Verdant Bay as a model for responsible luxury tourism in Thailand — a place where exceptional hospitality coexists with environmental stewardship and community empowerment. Our commitment extends from solar-powered operations and zero single-use plastics to supporting local artisans, fishermen, and cultural preservation initiatives across Phuket.
Honoured by travellers and industry leaders alike.

The Verdant Bay Story
Long before Verdant Bay became a destination, this hillside was a family grove of coconut palms and tropical fruit trees tended by generations of Karon villagers. When the Wongsawat family acquired the land, they made a promise: to build something beautiful without diminishing the natural landscape that made it special.
Every structure was designed to follow the contours of the hill, with open-air lobbies, garden courtyards, and rooms positioned to capture sea breezes and minimise energy use. Local craftsmen shaped teak wood, hand-laid stone, and wove traditional textiles into spaces that feel unmistakably Thai yet thoroughly contemporary.
Today, Verdant Bay stands as proof that luxury and sustainability are not opposing ideals. Our guests experience five-star comfort knowing that their stay supports reef conservation programmes, local schools, and the preservation of Phuket's cultural heritage.
